Life was not easy in the first century for followers of Jesus. The heavy-handed, often brutal, hand of the Roman government was constant.
Paul’s deeply theological letter to the Romans makes a profound shift to the practical aspects of following Christ, i.e., this is what you do.
Rejoice in hope (confident joyful expectation). Be patient when things are difficult and hard. Don’t stop praying in the midst of trials.
Notice the parallels for today. The Word exhorts us to follow Paul’s recipe as we bear up under the heavy lifting of this life. - Pastor Jimmy
