Paul is warning the Colossian believers to be on the alert for the false believers who called their teachings, “The Philosophy.”
He makes it clear their teaching was inspired and promoted by demonic influence.
True to form, these teachings were deceptive and not aligned with the teachings of Jesus.
The word for “captive” is the same word that means to plunder a cargo ship. These teachers were viciously plundering the believers’ souls.
