Sometimes, we fall on our swords and play the martyr. We tend to think we are doing all the real work while others are simply enjoying life.
Martha was incensed that Mary was sitting at the feet of Jesus while she busied herself. I often vacillate between being a Martha and a Mary.
Jesus did not rebuke Martha but gently informed her that Mary had chosen “what is better.”
Mary postured herself as a humble disciple, prioritizing the presence of Jesus over the demands of the moment.
Today, join me in choosing “what is better,” even amidst the swirl and din of tasks and responsibilities. - Pastor Jimmy
