Jesus is engaged in a debate about faith, identity, and spiritual freedom. The Jews who believed were not all in. It was a temporary surface belief.
Jesus calls us to a faith that endures and transforms, warning that only those who remain in His word are disciples and will experience freedom.
The litmus test for an authentic disciple is “If you abide in my word.” It is long obedience in one direction that forms you and sets you free. - PJ
